Reggae has seen a long hard road. Since the beginning, the music critics of the world have had a difficult time understanding reggae music and bringing it into its media circles. The culture that reggae and Rastafarianism produced has created certain barriers to this for a good reason I believe. Yes, this is Pop music, but their is something much heavier going on and if you want to begin to understand this music movement then you better bring a sociologist along. And then still doubt any conclusions they make.

The reggae community is complicated and unfortunately this has created some confusion in the press. Never the less, I don’t see any music that is growing the way reggae is around the world. Throughout the course of the 2 day festival Tribute to the Legends concert in San Diego, we will see many different reggae traditions being represented to a sold out crowd . Mexican-American, South American, Polynesian, European and fortunately some of the best classic Jamaican reggae will be present to legitimize the amazing vibe. I am impressed and blessed, reggae is indeed going stronger than ever in 2012.

Big Mountain 20th Anniversary Live Album Video

Hello my People,

hope everyone is feeling refreshed and energized for this New Year!

I am very happy to announce that Big Mountain will be recording a Live Album Video at the Tribute to the Legends aka Bob Marley Day on February 18th and 19th, 2012 in San Diego. http://tributetothelegends.wordpress.com/

We will be back were it all started in our home town with our World Beat Center Family and our auntie Makeda Dread, San Diego’s reggae ambassador.

We will perform and record both nights. We will also be joined by Jed Leiber, the producer of our new single “Leap of Faith”.

Among all of your Big Mountain favorites, we will play a special tribute to the legacy of Jed’s father, the legendary songwriter Jerry Leiber who passed away this last August.

If you miss the show don’t worry, we will have the DVD available this Spring.

Also remember that our new single “Leap of Faith” is available on iTunes.
